Accessibility Statement

Debt Free Firm should work for every visitor — however you see, hear, move through a page, or get here. This statement covers the standards we hold ourselves to, what's already built into the site, and how to reach us if a door isn't opening the way it should.

Clause 1

Section 1: A door open to everyone

No one should be held back from a clear look at their options by a website that wasn't built with them in mind. We want every visitor to get full use of Debt Free Firm, whatever their abilities, whichever assistive technology they rely on, and however they choose to browse.

Where we come up short of that, we want to hear about it — section 6 explains how.

Clause 2

Section 2: The standards we follow

We work toward Level AA of WCAG 2.1, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium). Those guidelines rest on four principles, usually shortened to POUR:

Perceivable

Information reaches every visitor in a form they can take in — text alternatives for images, and enough contrast between text and what sits behind it.

Operable

Every control and every path through the site can be worked with a keyboard, a voice, or another input device — a mouse is never the only way through.

Understandable

Text reads plainly, and the interface behaves the same way each time you return to it.

Robust

Clean, standard markup keeps this site working with today's assistive technology, and gives it a fair shot with tomorrow's.

We check the site against these guidelines with both automated tools and hands-on testing — keyboard navigation, zoom behavior, color contrast — and act on what we find, repeating the review whenever the site changes.

Clause 3

Section 3: What's built into this site

These features are here to support a range of needs and preferences:

Meaningful structureHeadings run in a logical order, pages carry clear landmark regions, and links describe where they lead.
Keyboard accessEvery feature works without a mouse, focus stays visible as you move through the page, and the request form traps focus and closes with the Escape key.
Text alternativesImages that carry meaning get descriptive alt text; purely decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
Readable contrastText and controls are built to clear WCAG AA contrast ratios, and we measure them as part of our checks.
Zoom and reflowPages zoom to 400% — the equivalent of a 320-pixel-wide window — and reflow into a single column without sideways scrolling.
Skip links and calmer motionA skip link lets keyboard users jump past the header, and animation switches off for anyone whose device asks for reduced motion.
Clause 4

Section 4: A few spots we're still refining

Level AA is the goal everywhere on this site, though a few corners may not be there yet. Here's what we're already aware of:

  • The request form is an embedded component from a third-party platform, so parts of its accessibility sit outside our direct control. If you're unable to complete it, call (844) 580-2309 or email [email protected] and we'll find another way to connect you with a lender
  • Some links lead to lenders and other outside sites we don't run, and the accessibility of those pages is up to their own owners
  • We review changes carefully, but a barrier can still slip through when pages are added or updated

Noticed something we haven't listed? Tell us. Every report gets added to our list of fixes.

Clause 5

Section 5: Assistive technology and browsers

We build with the following in mind. We haven't tested every combination of browser and assistive technology out there, so please let us know if something isn't working for you.

  • Screen readersStandard markup, labeled controls and a sensible reading order, built with NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, and TalkBack on Android in mind
  • Keyboard onlyEvery feature can be reached from the keyboard alone, standard or extended
  • Voice controlButtons and links carry visible text that matches their accessible name, which suits Apple Voice Control and Dragon NaturallySpeaking
  • Zoom and reflowZooming as far as 400% leaves content in one readable column on phones, tablets and computers alike
  • High contrastButtons and cards keep visible outlines under Windows high-contrast themes

You'll get the smoothest experience from an up-to-date copy of Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge.

Clause 6

Section 6: Tell us what isn't working

If a page, a control or a piece of content is hard to reach or use, call (844) 580-2309 or write to [email protected]. We'll look into it as promptly as we reasonably can and, where possible, arrange a sensible accommodation or an accessible alternative.

It helps to know the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you use. Full contact details are just below.
